At Boquete Hospice and Health (BHH), we believe that care, comfort, and dignity are everyone’s right. Our volunteers are the heart of our mission — offering practical help and emotional support to those facing illness, caregiving challenges, or end-of-life situations.

Below are our current volunteer opportunities:

Bed Team

Role Summary:
Assist with the delivery, setup, and pickup of hospital beds for clients in need.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and pick up beds and related equipment.
• Assemble and disassemble beds on-site.
• Ensure proper placement and safety before leaving the home.
• Treat each delivery with care, respect, and confidentiality.

Skills/Requirements:

• Basic physical strength and mobility.
• Ability to work courteously with clients and families.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.

Respiratory Team

Role Summary:
Ensure respiratory equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disinfect and inspect returned respiratory equipment.
• Test and maintain oxygen concentrators and accessories.
• Keep an organized inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Communicate equipment needs or issues to administration.

Skills/Requirements:

• Comfort working with medical equipment (training provided).
• Organization and reliability.
• Commitment to safety and cleanliness standards.

Emotional Companionship Team

Role Summary:
Provide compassionate presence, emotional support, and practical help to palliative and terminal patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visit clients in their homes or facilities to offer companionship and comfort.
• Deliver foundation equipment or resources as needed.
• Offer light household help or run small errands (as appropriate).
• Provide caregiver respite by sitting with the patient.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Skills/Requirements:

• Empathy, patience, and active listening skills.
• Emotional maturity and respect for privacy.
• Ongoing monthly training provided.

Fundraising Team

Role Summary:
Support BHH’s sustainability by helping plan and carry out fundraising events and donor engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting events.
• Help manage logistics and event setup/takedown.
• Cultivate and maintain donor and sponsor relationships.
• Contribute creative ideas for fundraising and community outreach.

Skills/Requirements:

• Enthusiasm and teamwork.
• Good communication and organization skills.
• Experience in events, marketing, or public relations is a plus (but not required).

BHH Ambassadors

Role Summary:
Represent Boquete Hospice and Health at community events and help create visibility for our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help set up and take down displays at local events.
• Distribute brochures and engage with the public.
• Answer basic questions about BHH services and volunteering.
• Assist event coordinators during community outreach activities.

Skills/Requirements:

• Friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Comfort speaking with the public.
• Pride in representing BHH’s mission of compassion and care.
